Introducing Our £2 Eco-Friendly Green Fee: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future

At Lykke & Hygge, we’ve always believed that beauty should feel good in every sense of the word - for you, for us, and for the planet. From the very start, we’ve tried to tread gently: decorating our salon with upcycled furniture, choosing premium sustainable brands like Authentic Beauty Concept, and creating a space where nothing feels wasteful, only thoughtful.

Now, we’re excited to take things one step further by joining forces with the Green Salon Collective, a pioneering initiative helping salons across the UK turn waste into something wonderful. From now on, you’ll see a £2 Green Fee added to your appointment - a tiny change that makes a big difference.

So… what actually happens to salon waste?

With the Green Salon Collective, almost everything gets a second life:

🌱 Hair is transformed into mats that soak up oil spills, added to compost, or even used in art projects.

♻️ Foils & colour tubes are recycled into shiny new aluminium products.

🌎 Chemicals are safely disposed of so they don’t sneak into our water systems.

💡 PPE & plastics are repurposed, keeping more waste out of landfill.

In fact, the Green Salon Collective has already saved hundreds of tonnes of salon waste from landfill - and we’re proud to now be part of that impact.

How does this fit with our hygge ethos?

For us, hygge is all about creating a warm, comforting space where everything feels considered and intentional. Sustainability is an extension of that - because true hygge isn’t just about cozy corners and a mug of coffee, it’s about making choices that care for the world around us too (though don’t worry, we’ll never give up our blankets and flat whites in the process!)

By introducing this Green Fee, we’re making sure that your fresh colour, bouncy blow-dry, or new fringe comes with a little added goodness for the planet.
